  On March 5-6, 2025, the Chemical Science Department of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) held a final acceptance meeting for the 2024 National Major Scientific Research Instrument Development Project (Free Application) in Beijing. Yang Junlin, Executive Deputy Director of the Department of Chemical Science, presided over the opening ceremony, and Zhan Shige, Deputy Director, attended the meeting.

  Yang Junlin, Executive Vice Director, emphasized in his speech that the innovative development of basic research is an important cornerstone for promoting China's high-level scientific and technological self-reliance, and scientific instruments with unique functions and excellent performance are the key support for conducting cutting-edge innovative research. The Party Group of the National Natural Science Foundation of China has always attached great importance to the project review and full process management of major national scientific research instrument development projects. As an important component of the "Exploration, Talent, Tool, and Integration" funding pattern of the Natural Science Foundation, such projects play an irreplaceable role in promoting the research and development of original scientific research instruments. He specifically mentioned that in order to better support basic research, the State Council revised the "Regulations on the National Natural Science Foundation of China" last year, further regulating the use and management of scientific funds and improving the efficiency of fund utilization.

  Deputy Director Zhan Shige pointed out that the national major scientific research instrument development project is oriented towards the forefront of science and national needs, guided by scientific goals, and supports the development of original scientific research instruments and core components that play an important role in promoting scientific development, exploring natural laws, and expanding research fields, in order to enhance China's original innovation capability. She provided a detailed overview of the overall situation, reporting requirements, key acceptance points, and related meeting arrangements for the project's positioning and management approach.

  During the meeting, a technical expert group composed of experts from multiple disciplines carefully listened to the project report and conducted a focused investigation on the completion of the project's instrument technical indicators through questioning and discussion; The financial expert group conducted an acceptance inspection on the use of project funds; The archive expert group has reviewed the standardization of project archive management. On this basis, the review expert group summarized and formed acceptance opinions, and provided feedback to each project team on site.
