On February 25, 2025, the National Natural Science Foundation of China held
a cutting-edge interdisciplinary seminar on the construction of cell cluster
functions and robust regulation in Beijing. The conference is jointly hosted by
the Department of Life Sciences and the Department of Interdisciplinary
Sciences, with Wang Puyue, Deputy Director of the Department of Life Sciences,
presiding over the opening ceremony.
The seminar adopts a combination of conference reports and free
discussions, inviting experts such as Professor Yao Xuebiao from the University
of Science and Technology of China, Academician Chen Yeguang from Nanchang
University, Academician Zhang Mingjie from Southern University of Science and
Technology, Academician Shi Songhai from Tsinghua University, and Professor Yu
Hongtao from Xihu University to give keynote speeches. The attending experts
conducted extensive exchanges and in-depth discussions on the basic and applied
research of cell clusters, analyzed and sorted out the latest research progress,
development opportunities and challenges, technological innovation and needs in
the field, and provided strategic and forward-looking guidance for condensing
key scientific issues and phased development goals in the field of cell
clusters.
Chen Yongjun, a member of the Advisory Committee of the National Natural
Science Foundation of China, pointed out in his summary that we should
effectively focus on the goal of building a strong country through science and
technology, and from the perspective of interdisciplinary strategic vision,
condense cutting-edge, accurate, and profound scientific problems, and formulate
clear, concise, and feasible research goals. I hope to further strengthen the
discussion and exchange among experts in the field, improve the layout
direction, reflect fundamental, forward-looking, and cross cutting aspects, and
promote innovative breakthroughs in the field.
27 experts from the fields of life sciences, physics, chemistry, artificial
intelligence, and interdisciplinary sciences, as well as relevant staff from the
Life Sciences Department and Interdisciplinary Sciences Department of the
National Natural Science Foundation of China, participated in this seminar.
