　　On December 25th, the 2024 National Natural Science Foundation Management Work Conference was held in Beijing.   Dou Xiankang, Secretary of the Party Group and Director of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Han Yu, member of the Party Group, Deputy Director and Secretary General of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, presided over the opening ceremony.

　　Director Dou Xiankang pointed out in his speech that in 2024, the National Natural Science Foundation of China will continue to promote various measures to deepen the reform of science funds in the new era in accordance with the decisions and arrangements of the Party Central Committee and the State Council. We will strengthen the systematic training of basic research talents and build a high-quality basic research team; Improve the diversified investment pattern of science funds, promote the deep integration of scientific and technological innovation and industrial innovation; Take on the new mission entrusted to the National Natural Science Foundation of China in the new era, conscientiously fulfill the responsibilities of the national key research and development plan and the main unit responsible for major national science and technology projects; Strengthening the construction of the rule of law and enhancing the planning of scientific funds, laying the foundation for deepening the reform of scientific funds; Consolidate and deepen the achievements of the special rectification of stubborn diseases by experts who have been "greeted"; Actively expanding international cooperation and exchanges, steadily advancing the implementation of global scientific research fund pilot projects.

　　Director Dou Xiankang emphasized that 2025 is the final year of the 14th Five Year Plan. The National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) should deeply understand the mission and tasks entrusted by the country to the NSFC in the new era, the new trends and characteristics of basic research development in the new era, the international competitive environment faced by basic research funding in the new era, firmly grasp the strategic positioning of the NSFC in the new era, continuously improve the effectiveness of NSFC funding, and better play the unique role of NSFC in the national innovation system.

　　The meeting requires that the majority of supporting units should effectively fulfill their main responsibilities, continuously strengthen the construction of academic atmosphere and style, work together to support the development of the Science Foundation, and make new and greater contributions to achieving high-level scientific and technological self-reliance and building a world science and technology power.

　　At the meeting, relevant officials from the Planning and Policy Bureau, International Cooperation Bureau, Office (Research Integrity Construction Office), and Information Center of the National Natural Science Foundation of China made conference reports. The attending representatives conducted group discussions on "optimizing and improving the management of scientific fund funding, and further strengthening the implementation measures of the main responsibilities of supporting units", and put forward constructive opinions.

　　More than 200 representatives from 82 supporting units across the country, joint sponsors such as the State owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, and China Railway Group, 16 local science and technology management departments, as well as various bureaus (offices) of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Ministry of Science, and directly affiliated units, attended the conference.
