Objective: To investigate the effect of Taohe Chengqi Decoction (without licorice) on hepatic encephalopathy induced by thioacetamide (TAA) in rats.
Methods: The rat model of hepatic encephalopathy was induced by intraperitoneal injection of TAA, and the effects of Taohe Chengqi Decoction (Deglycyrrhiza) granules on the neurobehavioral changes, neurological tests, serum biochemical indicators and pathological damage of liver and brain in hepatic encephalopathy were observed.
Results: The rat model of hepatic encephalopathy was successfully established. Taohe Chengqi Decoction (Deglycyrrhiza) granules at low, medium and high doses can improve the neural reflex of HE rats caused by TAA to varying degrees, reduce the level of HE, reduce the blood ammonia and biochemical index, and reduce the pathological results. Among them, the high-dose group is the best (P<0.05), and the effect is similar to that of the positive drug.
Conclusion: Taohe Chengqi Decoction (without licorice) has a good preventive and therapeutic effect on hepatic encephalopathy in rats caused by TAA. This experiment provides a solid experimental basis for the clinical use of this prescription in hepatic encephalopathy.
